Why doesn't Clearplay have apps?

Overview:
Clearplay filters movies legally. This is done with an extension that overlays filtering directly on streaming websites.  App environments (phones, smart tvs, Roku, etc) do not provide this type of “overlay” access.

Don’t be misguided:
Simply having an account with a streaming provider doesn’t ensure legality; the content must also be streamed without making an unauthorized copy.


Filtering in an App:
Major streaming providers all stream directly to their proprietary apps. Third-party apps can’t customize how content is played within these proprietary streaming apps.

If Clearplay were to bypass this limitation—by making unauthorized copies of shows and then streaming these unauthorized copies to an unauthorized app—it creates legal problems for both Clearplay and our customers.

Legal Filtering:
Clearplay’s browser extension works directly with streaming services and guarantees that the movies and TV shows are not streamed to an unauthorized filtering app.

With the Clearplay browser extension:

1. Movies and TV shows are paid for by the customer.

2. The movies and TV shows stream from an authorized source.

When customers stream movies and TV shows directly from the streaming service’s website, Clearplay can legally apply filters to that content.
