UPDATE: October 2025
We have updated our filtering technology on Disney+. This update makes the filtering more seamless and less noticeable. This is a dramatic improvement over our prior Disney+ filtering.
Please note that there are still some skips where there is a pause when content is filtered. This pause makes sure the selected content is completely removed.
Background:
The internal timers on the Disney+ streaming service are sometimes incorrect. For example, we may tell the video to skip ahead 20 seconds, but the streaming service’s internal timers only skip ahead 10 seconds. When this problem is detected, the video is briefly paused, during which time Clearplay insures that all the content that has been selected for skipping is completely removed.
Note that Disney content on other streaming platforms is not affected. This issue is just when streaming on Disney+.
Is This a Permanent Problem?
No. We will keep pressing to invent a new solution for skipping on Disney+. It is a very tricky problem for a streaming service to have internal seeking methods that sometimes perform inaccurately.
We love creating new solutions for near-impossible tasks — all while making sure the filtering is done legally and without making copies on our servers.
One More Thought:
We use our service with our own families. Having high-quality filtering is a must. We will continue improving video skips on Disney+, and these improvements will continue to automatically push out to everyone.
