Clearplay On Your TV

Here are some recommended ways to connect to a TV for a large-screen viewing experience.

HDMI Cable (recommended)

Connecting your laptop to your television with an HDMI cable provides the highest-quality connection.  It is usually the simplest method of mirroring your laptop screen on your living room TV.

Many customers purchase a basic laptop and have it always connected to their TV.  With Clearplay on this laptop, it becomes a family entertainment solution readily available when you want to watch the latest movies and shows with filtering.

Casting, Mirroring, and AirPlay Options (not recommended)

Connecting your computer via casting, mirroring, or AirPlay is not recommended.  Using these types of connections can cause filter timings to be delayed.  Instead, we highly recommend connecting with an HDMI cable.  If you do want to try casting, mirroring, or AirPlay, here are some links to their various support sites:

  • Apple AirPlay (for computers and Apple TV): link

  • Amazon Fire TV Stick: link

  • Google Chromecast Screen Mirroring: link (Please note: Filters can’t work unless you cast your entire computer screen.)

  • ROKU Screen Mirroring: link

Note: Wireless mirroring or casting may cause poor playback and will break Clearplay filtering. For the best experience, use an HDMI cable to connect your computer to your TV.

Additional Support for Mirroring Your Computer

If you encounter any problems while casting, mirroring, or using AirPlay for playback, such as a black screen, audio issues, or video synchronization issues, please reach out directly to the respective companies for your mirroring/casting device:

Clearplay Support:

We can help troubleshoot problems with Clearplay filters not working on your computer while it is not connected to a TV.

We recommend getting support directly from your mirroring/casting device manufacturer for:

  • Playback issues when connecting your computer to a TV.

  • Audio or video problems (unrelated to filtering) during movie playback.

  • Any issues with casting, mirroring, or AirPlay, as these methods do not support Clearplay filtering.
