Amazon assigns every movie and TV episode a unique ID number called an ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number). We link each filter to the ASIN ID for the movie or TV episode, rather than its title, because different movies and episodes can share the same title.
When Amazon Filtering Is Guaranteed
Movies listed under the Amazon tab on https://web.clearplay.com are guaranteed to have filtering only when you rent or purchase them through the Prime Video Store.
If the same movie is available to watch for free with a subscription to Amazon Prime or a Channel for Amazon Prime, we need a filter associated with the ASIN ID number Amazon uses for that movie on that subscription platform. A movie appearing under the Amazon tab does not mean we have a filter for every way Amazon offers access to it.
What Different ASINs Look Like
The ASIN differs depending on how you access the movie. For example:
Prime Video Store Rent/Purchase: B0F4VGZ46L
Supported Subscription Platforms and their Platform-specific ASIN IDs:
Amazon Prime*: B0F4VGZ46L&PRIME
Apple TV Channel: B0F4VGZ46L&APPLE
HBO Max Channel**: B0F4VGZ46L&HBO
Paramount+ Channel**: B0F4VGZ46L&PARAMOUNT+
*Amazon Prime ($4.99 Ultra ad-free subscription required)
**HBO Max Channel (ad-free subscription required)
**Paramount+ Channel (ad-free subscription required)
Why Filter Settings Appear Before Playback
Amazon defaults to loading the movie's rent or purchase ASIN on the movie’s details page. The Clearplay extension recognizes that ASIN and displays its filter settings.
Why "No Filtering Options Yet" Appears
When you start the movie through Amazon Prime or a Channel for Amazon Prime, Amazon switches to the ASIN associated with that subscription. If we do not have a filter for that platform-specific ASIN, the extension displays "No Filtering Options Yet."
An Example
If “Interstellar” is available to rent or purchase through the Prime Video Store and is also included with an Amazon Prime subscription, but we’ve only made a filter that is linked to the rent/purchase ASIN ID, the filter settings will load on the movie’s detail page, because the Clearplay extension has detected the rent/purchase ASIN ID that Amazon has loaded in the background.
When you start watching the movie through Amazon Prime, Amazon loads the Amazon Prime ASIN ID. If we do not have a filter for that platform-specific ASIN ID, the extension displays "No Filtering Options Yet."
Why Some Amazon Prime or Channel Movies Aren't Listed
Amazon has not chosen to partner with us and does not notify us when movies are added to Amazon Prime or Channels for Amazon Prime. Amazon also does not provide a way for us to automatically identify those movies.
Instead, the filter team identifies newly added titles using publicly available information and customer reports.
Until we identify that a movie has been added to Amazon Prime or a Channel for Amazon Prime and create a filter for its ASIN, only the rent or purchase option through the Prime Video Store is guaranteed to have filtering.
How to Request a Filter
If a movie is already filtered for the Prime Video Store, opening the Amazon Prime or Channel version will not prompt you to request a filter from the movie's details page.
Instead:
Start playing the movie.
Pause playback.
Click the Clearplay extension icon in Chrome.
Submit a filter request.
Requests are tracked only when they are submitted through the filter request prompt.
Filter requests are not fulfilled on demand. The filter team prioritizes requests based on demand and feasibility.
