Can Clearplay filtering work for offline (downloaded) movies?

No, Clearplay filtering cannot work for offline movies.

Apple TV, Disney+, Max, and Netflix only offer a download option for offline viewing on mobile devices.  Only Amazon provides a download option for offline viewing on mobile devices, desktop & laptop computers.  Downloaded Amazon movies are only accessible through the Amazon app on your desktop or laptop.

Our filters are designed to work exclusively through our Google Chrome extension, which is available only in the Chrome browser for desktop and laptop computers.  Amazon's desktop/laptop app cannot install web browser extensions.

Why doesn’t Clearplay make an app for filtering movies on TVs, ROKU, Apple TV, tablets, and smartphones?

    Focusing on Filters

Our focus is to enhance the movie and TV viewing experience through the use of filters, rather than functioning as a streaming movie company.  This is why it's not possible to stream a movie or TV show from https://web.clearplay.com.

    Legal Access to Streaming Content

Offering access to Amazon, Apple TV+, Disney+, Max, and Netflix in a Clearplay app would violate copyright law as the only legal way to access those streaming services is through their respective websites and apps.

Technical Challenges in Creating a Clearplay App

Creating a Clearplay app exclusively for muting and skipping scenes in streaming services like Netflix or Max on single-app devices faces a challenge: these devices don't allow apps to communicate.

In other words, a Clearplay app can't control mute or skip functions in streaming movie apps.

Browser Extension for Legal Movie Access

To ensure that we don't violate copyright law, we can only offer to filter movies from official and legally authorized sources.  Unfortunately, we can't filter content from Amazon, Apple TV+, Disney+, Max, or Netflix through an app.  However, our Google Chrome extension provides a copyright-compliant solution for filtering.

We understand this isn’t perfectly convenient — but it is legal.
