Why Clearplay Is Not Showing in the Chrome Web Store
From 2017 through January 2025, the Clearplay extension was available worldwide through the Chrome Web Store.
In January 2025, Google began enforcing region-based availability for extensions. Because Clearplay is set to be available only in the United States, the extension no longer appears for users outside the U.S.
This restriction is set and enforced by Google, and it cannot be overridden or adjusted on our end.
Is Amazon, Apple TV, Disney+, HBO Max, and Netflix Filtered if You Live in Canada or Mexico?
Streaming services use country-specific URLs for each movie and TV show. Our filter team operates only within the United States, so filters are created and tested only for U.S. versions of content.
Some titles in Canada or Mexico on platforms like Amazon’s Prime Video Store (rent or purchase), Amazon Prime subscription, Apple TV, Disney+, HBO Max, and Netflix may still work if the URL matches the U.S. version. If filters fail to load or do not work correctly, support is not available for Clearplay users outside the United States.
Streaming libraries also differ by country. Some content in Canada or Mexico does not exist in the United States. For example, STAR on Disney+ is available internationally and not offered in the United States.
If you are not satisfied with the limited filtering support for streaming services in Canada and Mexico, instructions for canceling your subscription are available here: How do I cancel?
Will Clearplay Filtering Work If I Use a U.S. Phone Number or Billing Address?
No. Using a U.S. phone number or billing address will not make Clearplay filtering work outside the United States.
Filtering depends on the URL loaded by the streaming service. Outside the U.S., that URL will not match what the Clearplay extension recognizes, so filters may not load or may not work correctly.
Clearplay filtering is only supported within the United States. We do not provide technical support for Clearplay users outside the U.S.
If you are not satisfied with how Clearplay filters work with the streaming services in your country, you can cancel your subscription here: How do I cancel?
Will Clearplay Work in My Country If I Use a VPN?
Our filter team does not test our filters while using a VPN. We highly advise that you use a VPN at your discretion and risk.
Additionally, we cannot provide technical support or refunds for any complications that may arise from using our filters outside the United States with or without a VPN. Our filters are intended to work only within the United States without using a VPN.
If you encounter any difficulties with our extension, instructions for canceling your subscription are available here: How do I cancel?
When Will Clearplay Expand Beyond the United States?
We do not plan to expand filtering support to additional countries.
