Legally supported devices Clearplay only provides legal methods for accessing movies for filtering. As such, our filtering works on Mac and PC laptops and desktop computers.  We do this so movies and TV shows are legally streamed directly from a streaming service’s authorized website. We understand this isn’t perfectly convenient — but it is legal. Pro Tip - HDMI cable Often our customers will simply purchase an inexpensive laptop that they connect to their television as a dedicated entertainment device.  We recommend connecting the laptop to your TV with an HDMI cable. There are two different status messages you might see when filtering isn’t available: “Can’t Filter!” Status Messages When the “Can't Filter!” status message appears, it serves as a safety feature to inform you that the mutes and skips no longer fully cover the inappropriate content. This happens when the streaming service loads a version of the movie with a runtime that doesn’t match what we originally recorded in our filter library. If the movie is longer or shorter, the content intended for filtering shifts to occur before or after the mutes and skips. Why Wasn’t I Warned About This Before I Started Watching The Movie? Can Clearplay filtering work for offline (downloaded) movies? No, Clearplay filtering currently doesn’t work for offline movies. Apple TV, Disney+, Max, and Netflix only offer a download option for offline viewing on mobile devices.  Only Amazon provides a download option for offline viewing on mobile devices, desktop & laptop computers.  Downloaded Amazon movies are only accessible through the Amazon app on your desktop or laptop. Our filters are designed to work exclusively through our Google Chrome extension, which is available only in the Chrome browser for desktop and laptop computers.  Amazon's desktop/laptop app cannot install web browser extensions.

The problem: During video skips on Disney+, you will sometimes see a black screen. This issue is unique to Disney+ and doesn't happen with other streaming services. Note: This issue does not occur on Disney content when played through Amazon streaming. It only occurs when playing content on the Disney+ streaming service. Why does it happen? The internal timers on the Disney+ streaming service are sometimes incorrect. For example, we may tell the video to skip ahead 20 seconds, but their internal timers only skips ahead 10 seconds. To prevent an inappropriate image from flashing on the screen, we have software that puts up a black screen while the skip finishes. Is this a permanent problem? Generally, you do not need to update the Clearplay extension manually. (Chrome automatically checks for updates every few hours, and installs any updates as needed). If Clearplay has released a new version of our extension, and you want to update it immediately, please use the following steps to uninstall and then reinstall the extension: Step 1 - Remove Clearplay Right-click on the Clearplay icon and select Remove from Chrome . Then click the Remove button. Step 2 - Reinstall Clearplay Once Clearplay has been removed, reinstall Clearplay onto Chrome.
