# How to Update the Clearplay Chrome extension

Generally, you do not need to update the Clearplay extension manually. Chrome automatically checks for updates every few hours and installs any updates as needed.

If Clearplay has released a new version of our extension, and you want to update it immediately, please use the following steps to uninstall and then reinstall the extension:

**Step 1 - Remove Clearplay**

Right-click on the Clearplay icon and select **Remove from Chrome**. Then click the **Remove** button.

**Step 2 - Reinstall Clearplay**

Once Clearplay has been removed, reinstall Clearplay on Chrome.

Click [**here**](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/clearplay/kbaabmojnmcfjjdegknpkhgffbjekbnn?hl=en) to reinstall Clearplay. You’ll be taken to the Chrome web store, where you can click on “Add to Chrome.”
